Meet
Rebecca Lynne Nycz and Arline Kimbel Sadlon in person on Saturday, July
12 at Gallery Ten in Gills Rock from 3 – 5 PM. GILLS ROCK, WI –
Charlene’s Gallery Ten is getting set to open an exhibit on July 12
that features two artists from different generations with unusually
divergent styles.
“I’ve been expressing myself through drawing and painting for as long as I can remember,” says painter Rebecca Lynne Nycz. Despite the fact that it has not been all that long, Rebecca takes a very conservative and traditional approach to her oils.
“I
enjoy floral painting, wildlife and still life. My father is an avid
gardener and I’ve had the privilege of growing up among many different
kinds of flowers,” she explains. “It is no surprise that I am now
inspired to paint them.” Arline Kimbel Sadlon
initially graduated with an undergrad degree in 1959. She has been
painting, drawing, teaching and lecturing on art for more than 30 years
and her work consists entirely of her abstract impressions. “Perhaps
it’s the post modern movement that’s responsible for younger artists
reviving representational art” Sadlon offers. “My last Rusted Series
was 7 ft. x 2ft!”
While their styles are from opposite ends of
the spectrum, the results each affirm a strong and consistent personal
vision coupled with individual mastery of technique.
 Arline
Kimbel Sadlon’s upcoming exhibit of oil pastels are rendered on 8 X 10,
inch-thick hardwood birch panels, significantly smaller than her
typical work - often 5 or 6 feet across. “I wanted to do the
Bjorklunden Series on site at the Campus south of Baileys Harbor and be
able to carry them in my tote bag,” says Sadlon. “As it turns out, the
Tower space at Gallery Ten is ‘intimate,’ so this size will work well.”
Sadlon
is also pleased that the support medium has a direct physical and
spiritual relationship to her choice of subject matter. She created her
latest works in pleine aire while strolling amidst the birch forests at
Bjorklunden.
Rebecca Lynne NyczNycz will also exhibit some of her haunting and romantic landscapes.
 “I
have also been through fifteen states in the past couple years and seen
many beautiful places,” says Nycz. “I am able to recreate picturesque
scenes into which I myself want to escape.”
You are invited to
meet both artists in person and encounter their work on Saturday, July
12 at Gallery Ten in Gills Rock from 3 – 5 PM. The show will be on
exhibit through August 14.
